Become a member of the AMH

The Association for Medical Humanities is the only learned society for the study and promotion of the medical humanities in the UK.

By becoming a member, you support the development of the medical humanities both in the UK and internationally. This is achieved through:

  • Maintaining a website for networking and information including an archive
  • Partnership with the BMJ Publishing Group’s quarterly publication Medical Humanities (print only, not print and online)
  • An annual conference
  • A partnership with ‘Creating Space’ – the equivalent organisation to AMH, promoting the health humanities in Canada through an annual conference and links with the journal Ars Medica (see link above to ‘Resources’: Ars Medica and Professor Allan Peterkin’s website)
  • Regional events
  • The AMH actively lobbying decision-making and funding bodies to develop tangible and credible support for medical humanities research and scholarship

From June 23 2015 (opening of AMH 2015 annual conference Dartington Hall) there is a single membership of AMH, including an annual paper subscription to the BMJ Publishing Group’s quarterly Medical Humanities (editor Professor Deborah Bowman) for £45 (included in the conference fee).

Day ticket holders will not be charged for membership and can join for £45. Those not attending the conference can join online, as below.
